ZHANG Chong

Zhang Chong is a Tenured Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Tsinghua University, with research interests in biochemical engineering, synthetic biology, and green biomanufacturing. He serves as a member of the National Fermentation Engineering Technology Working Committee and the National Biological Process Standardization Working Group (SWG36). Additionally, he is the Secretary-General of the Microbial Breeding Engineering and Application Evaluation Branch of the China Biotech Fermentation Industry Association, and an Executive Committee Member of the Computational Synthetic Biology Branch of the Chinese Society for Bioinformatics. Professor Zhang is also a member of several prestigious committees, including the Industrial Microbiology Committee of the Chinese Society for Microbiology, the Synthetic Biotechnology Branch of the Chinese Society of Biotechnology, and the Recombinant Drug Branch of the China Biochemical Pharmaceutical Industry Association. He holds the position of Associate Editor for the Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering and serves on the editorial boards of BMC Biotechnology, Engineering Biology, and Synthetic Biology. Throughout his career, Professor Zhang has received numerous accolades, such as the Young Changjiang Scholars Award from the Ministry of Education, the Asian Young Biotechnologist Award from the Society for Biotechnology, Japan, the Gold Medal at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, the Lun Shiyi Outstanding Young Scholar Award in Fermentation Engineering, the First Prize in Technical Invention from the China National Light Industry Council, and the Second Prize in Scientific and Technological Progress, among others.
