Professor YU Yangxin received his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. in chemical engineering at Department of Chemical Engineering, Tsinghua University in 1988, 1991 and 2005, respectively. He has been working at the department since 1991, becoming Professor of Chemical Engineering in 2005. From April 1, 2001 to September 30, 2002, he worked as a visiting associate researcher at University of California, Riverside. He teaches Computer Simulation of Fluids and Advanced Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics to the graduate students. His research focuses on the theories and experiments of chemical engineering thermodynamics and their applications. Currently he develops density functional theory and molecular simulation method to predict adsorption in pores, phase equilibria in confined space, structure of electric double layer as well as the thermodynamic properties of colloidal solutions. He also develops advanced techniques for the comprehensive utilization of the energy and substances in the industrial waste gases. His researches are mainly on chemical engineering thermodynamics, engineering materials thermodynamics, storage and energy conversion engineering, and pollutant purification engineering.
