Research Areas
Research areas are clean energy chemical engineering, heterogeneous catalysis, and multiphase flow reactor by experiment, modeling and numerical simulations. Recent works focus on the slurry bed reactor and its application in the process of clean energy production, simulations and reactor scale-up for partial oxidation, novel liquid-phase selective hydrogenation, and preparation of solar-grad silicon granular in a fluidized bed reactor. Fundamental studies of the multiphase flow reactor are carried out by coupling the population balance model (PBM) into the CFD framework to include the complex influence of gas bubbles, coupling the detailed chemistry with CFD, and by multi-scale simulations with the lattice Boltzmann model.
